741485 2009-01-24 01:20:00 Sorry about the slow reply(forum is slow to load like everybody else:()
I see the blue thing, but I can't press it, as the capacitors(or whatever they're called) are sticking out of the mobo so I can't reach it....

I'm going to try reinstall vista, but as far as I'm concerned, I don't think its a windows issue....as the beeping/nothing on screen thing happened even before I installed windows...may be a hardware issue...btw the Seagate drive no. is ST3500320AS...not sure if its one of the drives with firmware prob...if it is can I get a refund?

741487 2009-01-24 01:40:00 It looks like your hdd is affected (seagate.custkb.com)

BUT I wouldnt install/update the firmware. It looks like some of these updates (the other day) bricked users hdd's (it made them unusable / dead)

This could be (www.macworld.com) why youre getting that Stop error

741488 2009-01-24 01:42:00 lol so what should I do? Blam (54)
741489 2009-01-24 01:44:00 Take it back, get the update, (burn it to a cd, its an ISO, remember to use Nero or something to burn it with) take it with you.

Tell the shop to update it. If it dies, they can replace it. Since they updated it

Then they cant say you killed it. Since its in their possession

I would print (if you can) the link I posted. They may have no idea what youre talking about

741490 2009-01-24 01:59:00 It isn't really a shop...I bought it off trademe....Its got a 1 year warranty on it, can I replace it?

I still don't get why sometimes it beeps on boot and sometimes it doesn't...and when it does beep once I get stuff on screen...and if it doesn't beep then I don't see anything on screen?

Its a short beep, and only happens once on boot up(only sometimes as mentioned above)

741491 2009-01-24 02:03:00 Boot it, and press the pause key (on the post screen) or go into the BIOS

Does it show the version / revision of the hdd??

If it shows

SD15, SD16, SD17, SD18, SD19 its probably affected

If its only beep thats normal, thats meant to happen

741492 2009-01-24 02:09:00 Disconnect HDD's, Optical Drives card readers etc and see if the system will post normally.

Screwy Windows install or dead HDD shouldn't stop it posting.

741493 2009-01-24 02:17:00 I press the del key to get to the bios-it sometimes works sometimes doesn't depends on if the PC beeps or not, if it doesn't beep I see nothing on the monitor but everything inside PC is running.

Says "SD15" on HDD

I don't think its the hard drive problem..I unplugged it and still same issue.
I'm suspecting the mobo...

What do you think?
