740971 2009-01-22 08:35:00 You need lots more ventilation around the server cases, fully enclosing them is not a good idea, they will overheat almost immediately. feersumendjinn (64)
740972 2009-01-22 20:16:00 I'm only 14 XD Give me some slack :P designcentral (14551)
740973 2009-01-22 20:29:00 Great wood working skills mate, however its still unsuitable........ SolMiester (139)
740974 2009-01-22 20:46:00 guys give him credit, its pretty good for a 14 year old. As the title says, it is home made.

740975 2009-01-22 20:49:00 I agree - definitley a good effort considering - however not the best design for a server rack. A few tweaks, a sand and some paint, then we'll be talking. wratterus (105)
740976 2009-01-22 21:08:00 I'm thinking about painting it... What colour? The Rails DEFINATELY are strong enough and over a 12 hour period the CPU temperature was only 35 Degrees Stable... designcentral (14551)
740977 2009-01-22 21:21:00 IMO -

Get a jigsaw and put some nice long 'holes' in the side of the server case to allow a bit of airflow, sand and undercoat, then paint black. Preferably spray.

740978 2009-01-22 21:25:00 OKay, will do... designcentral (14551)
740979 2009-01-22 21:56:00 you have to start some place and a real rack will cost $1500 or more.
a good number of us started out a bit cheep and ugly.

often the DIY solution can be very good for learning why the real thing costs so much :-)

what OS will the servers be running??
