| 545039 | 2007-04-29 12:20:00 | It is rumoured that they may be vaguely related to Vogons: Vogons are extremely ugly, extremely officious, and generally not much fun to be around. They emerged from the seas of the planet Vogsphere, and gave up on evolving there and then. Vogans - any relation to Vogals ? Got two of them in the spare bedroom under the bed. Haven't heard a peep out of them in the last twelve months, very well behaved. Nice black crackle finish as well. |

| 545040 | 2007-04-29 13:35:00 | Never thought to WIKI it, but when I clicked that link (^), I got this: "Bogan (pronounced /ˈbəʉ.gn̩/, rhyming with slogan) is an Australian and New Zealand English slang term, generally pejorative, for a person who is, or is perceived to be, unsophisticated or of a lower class background. According to the stereotype, the speech and mannerisms of "bogans" indicate poor education and uncultured upbringing. The term is mainly applied to white, working-class people." There are plenty of people who fit that description and wouldn't be called bogans. The kind of car they drive or are driven round in and the kind of music they listen to are very important factors to take into consideration when deciding if someone is a bogan or not. As for the photo - I have no idea what that has to do with bogans. |

The name is possibly derived from their tendency to give the impression they inhabit the "Bogosphere" - the aroma-challenged area (volume?) around a bog (country toilet, or long-drop). The picture is of an Australian, which are like Bogans, but without the charm. (Australians are uniquely alians in their own country.) Have a happy St Patella's day. |

| 545042 | 2007-04-30 04:37:00 | Does the Wiki mention the clothing preferred by bogans? Usually black jeans, with a black T-shirt. They tend to congregate in specific suburbs (for instance West Auckland), but have been found outside their habitat on occasion. Typical bogan entertainment on a Friday/Saturday night consists of drinking copious quantities of beer and doing burnouts in an out of the way street in their hotted-up (they think) V8s Owning a new Holden for a bogan is almost unheard of - typically they drive cars a minimum of ten years old. If you see a bogan in a new Holden, it's probably stolen.... :D You forgot the mullet haircut. :D |
