Yea that's right.
HD quality video is only 1920x1080 but my 5MP camera takes photos at 2592x1944.
Imagine how much space you would need to store 2 hours of video at the 5MP resolution!

Imagine how much space you would need to store 2 hours of video at the 5MP resolution!

That would be why you would get a 512MB or 1GB card for your camera. I have my wife's Casio 4 Mega Pixel camera set for the highest resolution images which gives a 1.7MB photo. I think we can get about 199 photos on to the memory card at that setting.

Her father has a 1 GB card on his digital camera which is 6 Mega pixel I think. Lots of professional photographers work with 8 Megapixel cameras or greater and carry 1GB cards as well as portable memory devices for the 200 or more hi res photos that they get from each photo shoot.

That is also why we have 250GB or 1 TB RAID HDs on our computers for storing the HD video.

Just regarding my earlier comment, I remember reading that a lot of professional photographers can take up to 750 hi res photos in a single shoot which they usually transfer via Firewire straight to the computer or back to a portable 100 GB HD for later transfer.
