546203 2007-05-02 03:25:00 In Auckland there has been a digital transmission from the Waitakeres for a considerable time, and I have a tuner key which sits between the lead from my UHF aerial and a USB port on the computer. Fantastic reception of TV1, TV2 and several other channels. Software also enables recording to the hard disk just like a VCR.
With all the fuss about the start of digital satelite transmission today I mistakenly thought that retailers would take the opportunity of selling set-top boxes so that this signal could be displayed on a TV set - how wrong I was!
I know that suitable boxes have been available for a long time in Auckland, but can someone please tell me where one can be obtained?
Thanks in advance.

546204 2007-05-02 03:28:00 Dicksmiths sells them for $200+.

Some on Trademe allow freeview and cost in the $100+/- bracket.

The Terrestial service has been switched off for now. The Set top boxes at
Dick Smith etc are for the Satelite service only. Terrestial service will start again early next year. You need a different box for Terrestial.

As I said in a different thread, I got one on Trade Me for around $100.00... Chinese brand but works fine/ crap remote but I programmed my universal one so all is good.
