546218 2007-05-02 02:31:00 Ok who is thinking of buying the new freeview system the only thing good to come out of it so far is that they are all saying that the picture is clearer than skys.

next year HDTV will be available to people with a uhf aerial but if you have a dish HD will be no go for you.

So who wants freeview and why

do you think it will be any good.

546219 2007-05-02 02:42:00 Nup, I hardly watch TV now, (most of its crap), I'll rather watch DVD's.

So, it'll be a waste of money, getting it. And watching more crap.

I'll rather watch TV on this PC, if I had to.

546220 2007-05-02 02:47:00 I think we will be waiting a few years yet before we get Freeview, or at lest in till HD goes live…..

/ Thinks to self, how many more satellite dish’s I am I going to see from my place now?

/ Goes off & counts the number of Sky satellite dish’s that I can see from my place

546221 2007-05-02 02:54:00 You don't have to wait to get freeview its here now and you can use your existing sky dish if you have one.

Also if you have sky already you can buy a splitter with you new freeview box and still have both services at once with no signal drain at all.

Freeview have said this is a very easy set up and it works well.

I could do this in five minutes its that easy.

546222 2007-05-02 03:09:00 The big problem is that there is an abysmal selection on offer, so regardless of the delivery middle stage, "et oats is et oats" (and these oats were not too flash before the horse ate them). R2x1 (4628)
546223 2007-05-02 03:20:00 As far as Im concerned the transmission quality was never an issue, Its the quality of what they are transmitting that needs looking at.

Either TV just gets stupider every single year or Im getting smarter....and to be honest, I peaked years ago.

I find it hard to even be in a room with a TV going, Utter crap.

546225 2007-05-02 04:12:00 Freeview is definitely a positive development, in spite of the current lack of content, decoder choice, HD, etc, etc.
I look forward to cancelling my Sky subscription when my 12 months is up. The official Freeview website is here (http://freeviewnz.tv/)

Why would you do this, though? Don't the free to air channels Freeview is broadcasting get included in the Sky Digital packages?

At present yes but in the future no. Non of the new Freeview channels will be carried by Sky unless I guess that Sky offers some of it's channels to Freeview..
