545835 2007-05-01 00:11:00 Blog: Over the past few weeks Adrian Kingsley-Hughes has come across a number of articles on tech sites that are putting Windows Vista and Windows Me in the same sentence. Not good.

Is Windows Vista going to be a repeat of the Windows Me marketing and sales disaster that Microsoft experienced back in 2000? (ct.zdnet.com)

I told youse so.

Having Windows XP myself, it's kinda like "owning" a cat...the cat really OWNS YOU!

............or buying beer..when you finally think about it, you only RENT the beer!

545836 2007-05-01 00:15:00 Another site said Vista was ME II broken edition lol. Speedy Gonzales (78)
545837 2007-05-01 03:22:00 I saw a website that said Vista was great, then I saw another website that told me all about the Western Painted Turtle, I'm wondering who is right, is Vista great or are turtles omnivorous. Rob99 (151)

545840 2007-05-01 04:08:00 SurferJoe Dont you mean:

Vista = Large ME :p :D No, ME is older than Vista, (this is my thought anyway :p) Mini Me is from Austin Powers and is the mini clone of DR Evil, Win ME is bad and evil, so Vista is like its clone...

Though from what I have seen Vista is not all THAT bad... better drivers and I think I would be happy to run it as my main OS.

545841 2007-05-01 04:34:00 Here is an interesting article about Windows Vista "experiences"
Living with Vista: the first 30 days
pcworld.co.nz

With 2/3 of the respondents claiming their experiences were either poor or under whelming, I would say Vista would definitely be Windows ME II.

Alot of the problems mentioned in that article arent the fault of Windows Vista or Microsoft . The poor performance in most cases comes from ignorant people who install Vista on an older machine and expect it to fly . Vista is a new piece of software and like any other software the newer variants are always more demanding than the older version .

The problems with nVidia cards under Vista is a widely known issue, and not the fault of Microsoft either . Its nVidias responsibility to provide graphics drivers and just because they cant get them out in time doesn't mean Vista is a bad OS . ATI has had full Vista driver support for months! In my opinion ATI drivers for Vista are far far superior to their XP equivalents .

With any new OS theres going to be software incompatibility, especially with an OS like Vista that has major chances . I experienced these incompatibility problems, but instead of bitching i got off my ass and downloaded the latest versions of software that was causing issues and the problems were fixed . There is also a very large list of pre vista software that is fully compatible with Vista!

The sad thing about the internet is that you dont hear from the thousands of happy Vista users, media like PCWorld know that everyone loves to bag Microsoft and they know thats what sells . It would be suicide for them to come out and say they liked Vista!

545843 2007-05-01 05:13:00 When it all boils down they are in business to make money, their new OS may need a little work but that's typical, 95, 98, 2000, ME & XP were all patched till the cows come home after release, why would Vista be any different..... and according to this

the money is still rolling in
