An image scale sort of like a ruler.

Having trouble converting bits and bytes.

Often the usage is the "binary" k, so you should then use the proper (physics.nist.gov/cuu/Units/binary.html) multiplier. Whilst I agree with your post, I must ask what K representing Kelvin has got to do with anything? A letter can still be used as a multiplier if it's used for a unit as well. eg. m = meter, m = milli.

545408 2007-05-01 06:38:00 What it has to do with anything is that the uppercase letter "K" is defined as the abbreviation for the temperature unit "kelvin". The lower case letter "k" is defined as the abbreviation for the (general purpose) multiplier "kilo"=1000. A number of letters do double service, some even in the same case.

"m" is the multiplier milli = 1/1000; "M" is the multiplier "mega"= 1000000.

The position of the letter indicates whether it is the multiplier or the unit. So mm = millimetre, km = kilometre (Mm = megametre). I haven't yet seen references to kK temperatures, though mK is reasonably common. "KK" would be nonsense, and MK would be bloody hot.

I am very sorry for the people who complain about their slow computers with millihertz clock speed, and file transfer rates of millibits per second.

Actually, the computers are not that slow, it's just the Vista effect. :(
