2007-05-01 22:24:00 | And is anyone else sick of Geoff Palmer and his paranoia about security? He's got to be the ultimate conspiracy theorist. Who cares about this stuff? I stopped reading his column months ago. Yeah, PCW's going to dogs all right. You guys are allowed to rant and rave til you're blue in the face...why can't Geoff? :p

2007-05-02 00:54:00 | I buy my copy from the supermarket to do my monthly mass food shop. This time, with no CD I kinda thought '...Ill get next months...' and left it there. To me the disk is the draw card, I dont use it much but I do like looking at the demos etc. Once it returns I will return to buying it.

2007-05-02 01:03:00 | I would like to see more reviews on graphic cards, motherboards, cpu's etc. And reviews on games as well,do you need better then the recommended specs. to play the game as it should be played (perfectly) etc. And when you do a review on a game include the demo. of it on the dvd.Oh and more game demos. as well. Security apps. are handy too, they are all good to have on the dvd as well. And keeping us informed about security is good to. I would like to see more reviews on Linux distro's.-Just keep it to the top 5 most popular Linux distro's,and when you do a review on it include it on the dvd, yeah I would buy that!!! 1.The dvd is handy for people on dial up and it saves you from downloading. 2. I only buy computer mags that have a dvd disc. 3. I prefer to buy it as it is a local mag. but I will/do buy other computer mags. as well, the best one on the day wins my money!!!

2007-05-02 01:42:00 | The reality for many on our unique "broadband" service and also those in rural areas, is that the speed of downloads almost means a computer downloating software is actually starting the job for it's succesor. By the time the software is all transferred, the computer is obsolete, and it's software may no longer be supported. The girl/boy friend is now the spouse, the children have grown up and left home. Worst of all, the software you so eagerly selected as a teenager is of far less appeal when it finally completes the download as you enter middle age. Good things take time, but thanks to Telecom/Xtra so do all things via the 'net. Thats the same situation all over the world, and it is not just restricted to NZ. It is just as bad in Oz. For people who don't live in urban areas, broadband via ADSL is usually going to be nowhere as good. THis is mainly an econimic thing, as NZ is so spread out, and there are only a few high concentration areas. It is one of the sacrifices people who don't live in urban areas have to make, for the 'cheaper' rural living, unless you go for wireless or internet via 3G.However I think vodafones 3G network is also only in a couple of urban centres.

2007-05-02 03:14:00 | I haven't bought more then a couiple issues in the last couple of years, The current mag sure as hell aint aimed at me, Its aimed at people who like big MS advertising and respond to dire warnings about fluff. These people all must do basic tasks with digital cameras as well. Still, I dont really think that any mag I nominate should write content to suite me. How about a round up of free 3d apps, That would blow a few cobwebs out, and have a few pages of projects you can actually have a go at doing with the 3d apps, which would of course be on the DVD. And ditch the Xbox 360 reviews, The PC is still a far better platform for PC games. The 360 dribble has about as much reason to be in there as a recipe for Banana cake.
