742351 2009-01-27 07:41:00 ok thanks will try these but strange thigs happend tonight, after tring somethings wainui said (didnt work) i deleted some Forwarded ports in my rouder setting and restarted winupdate.. it worked, updates installed. downside not after i restarted. will try the above now The Error Guy (14052)

updates running (and working) but windows still giving me an error balloon saying that windows update cannot check for updates but windows updates are updating. any ideas?

If you mean the updates are currently downloading / installing then you cant rerun the check for updates - the ones coming through have to complete what they are doing, possibly needing a reboot - then they should be able to rescan to see if any more available. If you mean the little update balloon in the Icon tray ? thats often behind, once the current updates are through / rebooted it should go away - till next time :D
