742329 2009-02-23 01:11:00 Hi all, the printer emailed back to say she uses PRIMO PDF, which is another free program. I've downloaded it and it seems to do all I need - you have the option to create pdfs for screen, print, and pre-press.

For some strange reason I could not open the resulting pdf - nor any others I have saved on my hard drive, and it wouldn't open Firefox from the start menu either. I was about to start throwing things but after shutting Firefox down and reopening it, everything seems fine now! When I first opened the pdf after then it said the file could not be found, but then it opened it anyway and when I closed it and reopened it, everything was fine. Bizarre!

Sorry, must confess I have no idea what you mean by that! I downloaded Bullzip and when it started installing I clicked on the option that had something like 'install Ghostscript Lite?' but - and I can't recall the exact wording - I kept getting an error message saying it could not be installed due to some error and I had the option of trying again or cancelling. I hit try again many times but got the same message so I gave up.

Primo seems to have worked fine, the printer said the pre-press quality pdf I emailed her was even flasher than anything she was working with and that her version must be older than mine, so all is good. The file is being printed as we speak!

742332 2009-02-23 03:07:00 That's fine. FYI you can download Ghostscript Lite here (direct link) (www.bullzip.com).

Glad to hear that you've found a solution that works for you.

742333 2009-02-23 03:26:00 Thanks - Primo seems to do all I need, otherwise I'd try again with Bullzip. Thanks for sending the link. Beemer (6956)
