546558 2007-05-03 10:11:00 I remember giving money into the wrong account number. ASB charged me a $20 cancellation fee. It was for $100, so in the end I paid $120 in total. qazwsxokmijn (102)
546559 2007-05-07 15:58:00 but his/her primary call should of been to the bank not the forum, to get it sorted quicker, however the bank--if the person went in to deposit should of told them the account didn't exsist, and if internet banked would of bounced back next day or been warned by his/her bank the account didn't exsist?. however the bank--if the person went in to deposit should of told them the account didn't exsist, Agreed - but it appears this may have been a cash transaction

and if internet banked would of bounced back next day or been warned by his/her bank the account didn't exsist?.It appears that this transaction occurred between two different banks. Bank A does not have access to Bank B's account number range or customer list, so can't tell whether an account number is valid or whether the account at the other bank is open. So this transaction, apparently a cash deposit, had to make its way through the banking system for the receiving bank to take corrective action.
