742129 2009-01-26 06:32:00 OS is Vista Home Premium 64Bit and uses the latest Windows IE. However, quite unhappy with Windows Mail. For eg. If I type a name (still active in the Address Book), the System doesn't pick it up. This is very disappointing especially while trying to compose. Although not entirely unhappy, I still prefer to have something more in it. Also important is how it synchronises with Vista 64. Your advice of knowldge and expertise is highly appreciated. Thanks. ramu (726)
742130 2009-01-26 07:22:00 You can try Windows Live Mail, the auto complete feature should work and changing to WLM should be easy as it should import everything from Windows Mail.

I read in a magazine somewhere that autocomplete does work...it just uses a more intuitive way that is unobvious...like everything else in vista:p

If I ever find out, I be sure to let you know first.

742133 2009-01-26 20:16:00 And Thunderbird has loads of extensions available for customising it, and its own Junk mail filter for those spams that sneak through your ISPs filters. pctek (84)

There was a program that made it simple...but I forgot...

Anyways, just do this instead:

Install Thunderbird on another PC that has a compatible version of Outlook.
Make Outlook the default email client.
Copy the .pst file to that PC and configure Outlook to use it.
Compact the .pst file (support.microsoft.com) using Outlooks File -> Data File Management commands to permanently get rid of any deleted messages. Don't confuse this with compressing or zipping a file.
Import the messages using Tools -> Import -> Mail. You can use Tools -> Import to also import the settings and address books.
Backup (kb.mozillazine.org) the Thunderbird profile. Mozbackup (kb.mozillazine.org) is a useful tool to do that.
Restore the Thunderbird profile on your PC.
