| 741854 | 2009-01-25 03:39:00 | My display is showing up in poor quality making it hard to read text. However large objects like images don't seem to be as bad. I set 'ClearType' to smooth edges of screen fonts (found in Display Properties, Appearance, Effects). This made the text slightly better to read, but no way near as clear as it should be!! My display is a PHILIPS 23 inch widescreen LCD TV (model: 23PF9945/69), in which I am using in PC MODE as a monitor for my computer. When I set the resolution to a non widecreen ratio (1024 x 768), it displays clear but isn't taking advantage of the full wide screen. The resolution of the TV is 1280 x 768, which is what I have the computer resolution set at, but it gives this poor quality display. The PC Interface the monitor uses is VGA HD-15 (15 pin D-Sub (DB-15)). It aparantly is a HDTV Monitor. I can use composite video input instead of PC Input but composite video input is even worse!! My video card is an ASUS EAH4850 video card (Radeon HD4850). ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO GET A BETTER PICTURE OUT OF THIS MONITOR? Thanks |

| 741858 | 2009-01-25 09:27:00 | yes i have the drivers installed. The screen fits properly - its just the quality of the screen. It seems like each pixel hasn't got it's individual place. For example: llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll --- half of those l's appear on my screen as normal, and the rest either really faint or not there at all. |

| 741860 | 2009-01-25 11:59:00 | According to the manual (www.p4c.philips.com)(page 45), maximum (native?) PC resolution should be 1280x1024, which isn't a wide-screen mode (neither is 1024x768 as you've found), this would give you a 4:3 picture on your 16:9 screen with black bars on either side, if you stretch your (tv) picture to wide-screen by changing the aspect ratio, your screen pixels wont line up with the PC output, giving the effect you see (with your l's). In other words, your tv doesn't "do" PC wide-screen (16:9) mode apparently :crying. Try setting your computer video output to 1280x960, see if that helps. |

The display you're getting is probably as good as it gets on a TV. If you can use a DVI connector, that would be your best option. Otherwise, spend a few hundred bucks on a proper 22" LCD monitor. |

PHILIPS LCD TV Model: 23PF9945 (23PF9945/69) Ratio: 15:9 Pixels: 1280x768 Screen size: 500mm x 300mm (58.3cm/23" diagonal) Inputs: - Analogue VGA input (D-sub connector) (1280x768 is the only widescreen resolution supported, 1024x768, 800x600 etc are also supported) - Analogue Component Video Input (Y, Pb, Pr) (RCA plugs) VGA INPUT-- Display image stretches out to edges of screen fine. Vertical fine. Horizontal seems like it is trying to send two pixels into one pixel, as in if you had a line of IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII say every 3rd 'I' would be fine, maybe every 5th not visible and every 4th half visible. I can adjust 'VIDEO NOISE -PHASE/CLOCK' but these only barely change the problem just shifting the pixels along so that say every 5th would be fine, every third not visible etc. When displaying in 1024x768, screen is nice and clear, but this obviously isn't the 15:9 ratio I want out of my TV! Component Video Input-- Quality drops dramatically but not longer have the problem with the IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII, every 'I' seems to be almost the same and visible. Changing frequencies doesn't seem to make too much difference to both input situations. Maybe I should just spend about $600 on a 24" monitor or $350 on a 22" monitor? |
