2009-01-30 08:51:00 | Hi I am hoping that you will be able to help me with the best broadband package. At the moment I am using PDQ launch plus 1GB package including $10 min monthly toll charge. After reading the NZ Herald article about the Telco best offer deals. The telecom total package which $99 for 10GB broadband, free National toll calling up to 2 hours, line rental included. For TelstraClear to match the Telecom equivalent ie 10GB, max speed etc, it will cost about $113/month. The catch is that I am deaf and I don't use national toll call except for faxing outside Auckland or kids ringing relatives outside Auckland which is not very often. We like the idea of faster broadband with higher cap. What would you recommend? Thanks

With their Messenger plan you get a phone line plus 5GB bandwidth per month for $60, and you can easily add extra data if you're running out. (or just go for a bigger base plan.) What I will be doing soon however is getting a telecom landline and then pay xnet for broadband, I've used them before about a year ago and they're easily the best ISP I've ever dealt with. |

2009-01-30 09:51:00 | I second the use of Xnet. We recently relinquished our Telecom land line and phone and added Fusion to our Xnet services so now our phone line is via broadband. Saves us $20-$30 per month. | johnd (85) | |

2009-01-31 05:49:00 | On two separate test on Xtra just got 681 kbps per sec for upload (okay, that is in Glenfield !). That is the highest I can recall - usually it is about the 128 -132 kbps. Maybe just today ....... but I live in hopes ! Misty :D

2009-01-31 07:34:00 | I was with telecom for a the last 10 years and then I was hooked on slingshot's am no charge deal and changed to them and nightmare started. it was so slow and capped. I was on adsl2 and the connection is fast. but just as 10mb pasted it would drop to dialup speed. I had the issue going on with their helpdesk testing everything and denying it was capped. I got so ****ed so pay for a disconnection fee and went back to telecom and now happy. DL 18000 and UL 900. I am so a happy telecom customer. I want the speed and not the capped. most downloads are wasted anyway so with quality control downloads at 1.8MB per second I am hooked. hope this helps. Cheers.
