| 743255 | 2009-01-30 03:00:00 | Friend with a Dell Laptop can't get past the loging screen. I do not have a lot of detail but is there any simple way to get logged in or change/reset the password? The person has limited knowledge of computers so hopefully something simple is available. |

| 743256 | 2009-01-30 03:08:00 | Start in safe mode - select Administrator account - go into user accounts in the control panel - locate the account, select it, give it a new password - reboot normally, use the new password you just created. OR when in user accounts Via the admin account, remove password from the users account, reboot and bingo into windows. gee XP is so secure :lol: |

| 743259 | 2009-02-02 19:36:00 | By any chance do you happen to have the UBCD4Win or Hirens Boot CD -- If not the Hirens is prob the quickest way to change the password, it can be downloaded but it can also be a pain to find - if you dont have either and want the hirens just yell and i'll give PM instructions to get it from one of my servers, about 128Mb ISO makes a bootable CD. | wainuitech (129) | ||

| 743262 | 2009-02-02 22:15:00 | Good that its going again, but that way is the Loooooonnnnnggggg Way of doing it. ;) With the right Software - Eg: Hirens boot CD you can wipe the password and be in the system within a 2-3 minutes from booting up. I do it all the time, as its amazing how many people when you need to take away their PC you ask if it has a password when you start and they say NO - then when it boots - guess what it asks for :rolleyes: - so boot from that cd remove the password and away you go, you dont need to know what it is before. |
