| 743223 | 2009-01-30 00:46:00 | Its time for a new lcd as the old crt is playing up. We use our computer for general web surfing/email and the kids play runescape online but no other gaming at this stage. It has an ECS GeForce 7050M-M motherboard and there is no graphics card and we just use the integrated graphics. The chipset is nvidia 7050PV/630a. There is a VGA but no DVI connection. Cpu is Athlon64x2 6000. 2gig ddr800. I am looking at getting a 22" screen. My question is what resolution screen would the current setup realistically support? I have been told that it would struggle to run a 1920x1200 screen and text from web etc. would be small. Would a 1680x1050 or 1440x900 screen be best? The motherboard manual doesnt say what is supported and I have checked the ECS and Nvidia websites. Any recommendations for screens? Samsung and LG generally have good reports from what I have read. Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions. |

| 743225 | 2009-01-30 01:26:00 | ECS GeForce 7050M-M motherboard I am looking at getting a 22" screen . Oh bad luck . The monitor you buy has a native resolution which is what it should be displaying in . Most 22"s are 1680x1050 but some may be higher . Look up the graphics chipset and see what it can support . Should be OK . |

| 743229 | 2009-01-30 02:20:00 | Would a 1680x1050 or 1440x900 screen be best?On a 22-inch monitor the PPI (en.wikipedia.org) will be really low with both those resolutions. 1440x900 is ideal for 17 inch monitors, 1680x1050 for 20-inch and 1920x1200 for 22/23/24-inch monitors. Probably don't want to go much higher until your operating system supports resolution independence unless you have really, really good eyes. :p | maccrazy (6741) | ||
