742876 2009-01-29 01:32:00 A few weeks ago my system started having no display and no sound. I tried replacing the video card, tried resetting the CMOS, but still no display. I took my motherboard in to QMB and they sent it to their supplier. For the two weeks my mobo was on holiday I used a friend's spare motherboard and everything worked perfectly. I got my original mobo back and still there was the same problem, so I sent it back again but they still said there's nothing wrong with the mobo. I just don't know what to do.
During boot up, the hard drive sounds like it's spinning up twice, and the CPU fan starts spinning, then stops. Not only that, the little speaker beep thing doesn't beep anymore, it just sort of clicks.
Help please!!! I really do not want to buy a new motherboard!

742877 2009-01-29 02:07:00 Sounds a bit like its either no getting enough power, or shorting on something - try assembling the PC out of the case on a table/workbench with the board on the anti static bag it came in - and see if it will start up OK or not. wainuitech (129)

Don't suppose its an ABIT motherboard?

No, it's a Gigabyte motherboard.

However I was thinking the exact same thing about the power supply - it may just be a very crappy power supply.

My friend's mobo might just be lower powered, and so that's why everything's working fine.

742880 2009-01-29 19:45:00 I doubt it. Send the board back and insist on a replacement. pctek (84)
