548726 2007-05-10 00:18:00 The Los Angeles police department today decided to have a drill concerning a bomb threat at Union Station ( . google . com/imgres?imgurl=http://www . friedmanarchives . com/California/images/Union%2520Station%2520Front%25208x12%2520300%2520d" target="_blank">images . google . com pi . jpg&imgrefurl=http://www . friedmanarchives . com/California/pages/Union%2520Station%2520Front%25208x12%2520300%2520d pi . htm&h=527&w=800&sz=110&hl=en&start=6&sig2=w9dI8JwnEJArm-LPY74g2Q&um=1&tbnid=YZXo1kc3tmF7FM:&tbnh=94&tbnw=143&ei=91ZCRraiPJfKiQGG4rXgDA&prev=/images%3Fq%3DUnion%2BStation%26svnum%3D10%26um%3D1 %26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26sa%3DN) .

The training program was going along quite well until it was discovered the "dummy" explosives suitcase somehow . . . er . . . disappeared! :horrified

There were about 200 officers present for this exercise when the theft happened .

The Art Deco train station had to be shut down for a while as deputies searched with bomb-sniffing dogs and personnel looking for the "lost" prop .

My photos of the station from my last trip near it are here ( . msn . com/ForNewZealandersToSee/shoebox . msnw?Page=2" target="_blank">groups . msn . com) .

Filled with phoney explosives but a few real live detonators, they are worried that someone might blow off a hand or put out an eye .

Seems folks just don't appreciate the work that goes into these training exercises . . . . . .

A "person of interest" has been detained . . . but the bag and it's explosives are still among the missing . :waughh:
