548136 2007-05-08 00:38:00 Hi Folks. Just got back from ten days in Central Otago. Maybe five years since we were through that way. Included a guided night visit to stargaze through one of the telescopes at Mt John above Tekapo, another visit to St Bathans, a visit to the new indoor ice-curling rink at Naseby. We took our old bikes and rode the 150 km Otago Rail Trail........ three days averaging 30 km and final day 60 km - not bad I thought for an old couple. Boy - we really do live in a beautiful country. The rail trail is highly recommended and the pair of padded shorts was a good investment. Scouse (83)

548138 2007-05-08 04:56:00 Thanks for the reminder - just bookmarked the official site (www.otagocentralrailtrail.co.nz) so I can investigate taking the whole fam damily down when the weather warms up... johcar (6283)
548139 2007-05-08 05:40:00 My sister and brother did the Otago Rail Trail bike ride in January with their families and they all loved it. I'd like to do it as well but timing is the issue. In summer it's way too hot so it will have to be done in spring and autumn whilst keeping one's fingers crossed that the weather stays favourable! FoxyMX (5)
