| 547499 | 2007-05-07 15:22:00 | Depends, summertime i'll have just right or something thereof, winter i'll have porridge with brown sugar cream and all bran to keep things moving along and sometimes i'll have nothing but coffee. | Narmie (12196) | ||

| 547501 | 2007-05-07 23:34:00 | Normal routine is four slices of moderately toasted white toast bread, with canola spread applied liberally and quickly (so it melts and soaks into the toast), with a light scraping of marmite. Porridge for the cold mornings or when I feel motivated - 1/2 cup of rolled oats (per person) with 1 cup of milk, heated slowly in a saucepan on the stock, with a knob of butter (or spread). Serve with a dash of milk and golden syrup or brown sugar. Treats for the weekend (usually Sundays): fried eggs on toast, or waffles with canola spread and maple syrup, or pancakes (american style): 1 cup of flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 cup of sugar, milk to mix, 2 eggs. Sift flour, baking powder. Add sugar. Separate eggs, put yolks in with flour, and beat whites separately to make stiff peaks. Mix flour with milk until just runny. Fold beaten egg whites in to batter mixture. Spoon with ladle into hot cast-iron pan to make large, fluffy pancakes. Serve as a stack with butter, maple syrup, bananas, and peaches. Book into hospital for bypass surgery. |

For those of you who like NZ's marmite (or vegemite) here's some great advice... never ever buy Sanatarium's corruption of marmite, nor ever consider vegemite. The two products are gross corruptions of Marmite. Instead: 1) get the original recipe Marmite if you can. It's only available as an import and South African food shelves in some stores stock it. 2) Try Our Mate. The jar looks similar to the original Marmite, and the product tastes nearly identical. 3) Try Bovril - it is now (and has been for some years) 100% vegetarian; no longer made from the icky meat extracts that used to comprise it. It tastes similar to both the above but is a bit stronger - just use less. For fans and fanatics like me, more info here (http://www.ilovemarmite.com/). |
