547589 2007-05-07 07:15:00 Video games contribute little to violence so do movies. there was already violence since the stone age and did they have computers?. Its a gene we've had since we started to evolve from apes-"the anger gene". the development of video games does not change a thing. also testosterone must be to blame also since majority of violence comes from males so maybe we should ban males as well as video games what a good idea. If we all had this anger gene, then surely we would all walk around with a chip on our shoulders. But not all of us do. Does that mean we are somehow handicapped because we are missing this gene? Or does it just mean we have grown up and taken on full responsibilities for our actions and realised walking round all day with a grudge on our shoulders is neither constructive, nor an enjoyable way of life.

547591 2007-05-07 08:34:00 So when someone goes to court you can say its not my fault, this anger gene made me do it.

Hey crimes you have a new excuse to add to the list that you always peddle out,to get sympathy and light sentences.

547593 2007-05-07 08:54:00 You guys just dont understand do you. everyone gets violent to some extent when you turn red thats anger. when your angry you want revenge(you hate whatever happened) its human nature to do that if you dont then you are right you are handycpaped). this guy was in aledgedly in a fight so he was angry and went to his car and made the wrong choice. Before there was video games there was violence maybe even more than there is today. there was murder there was war there was hit and runs with model t fords. video games like GTA may have contributed but it whouldnt of changed a thing. I was wrong about the anger gene but thats what i described it as If you thought about it you whould of known. And going to court for murder and saying your anger genes fault is wrong- you have to learn how to control your temper (I bet you all had moments in schol you felt like walking out the classroom or something similer) its also worse when you drink alcohol and go to partys with friends its your own responsibility for what you do, where you go and what you drink. 547594 2007-05-07 09:12:00 Has this board gone nuts, is there something evil in the code?

For kids being drunken/drugged idiots, you prescribe death.

The same logic [sic] could just as easily apply to the "maniac" who decided to re-enter the fray after, allegedly, being in a fight, rather than remove himself from the scene.

There is nothing "apparent" about the insensitivity of your comments.Chill out mate or your blood pressure will get the better of you.

I think I see where you are coming from, even through the atrocious spelling and grammer. (If you want to be taken seriously, at least make an effort to spell-check).

Anger is not a failing, nor is revenge. Everyone at some stage is treated in such a way that anger, (and possibly revenge) is not only acceptable, it's probably justified.

The strength of a person is how they deal with, and face those emotions. Anger is healthy; repressing feelings and emotions will not only screw you up, but also those who may interact with you.

Do you take the easy way and lash out, or do you find another outlet for your feelings of rage?

Is physical violence okay? Sometimes I think it is. I've been involved in my share of fights in my younger days...I think it is part of growing up, and men are not as adept as women at dealings with intense emotions, and a good scrap in the locker-room in front of an audience releases these emotions. Better out than in, aye boys? !

Men hitting women? Nope. Never. No need to elaborate...I doubt there is anyone here that will argue that, so I won't bother defending the stance.

I also agree, in a very un-scientific way, that video games do have a part to pay in the violence-culture of our youth today.

I got rear-ended 2 weeks ago, wrote off my car. I got out of that car ready to hit someone. Did I? NO. My priority changed to "Is everyone ok first". Then I had to suck it in, punching someone would not have gained anything. Its called control. (and if you don't think I was highly f**ked off, I was, I'd had that car 6 years)
Its like going to a party and having a heap to drink, waking up with some woman you don't know in your bed .. lets blame the alcohol. Noone ever says it was my fault, I lost control and drank too much. They say it was the alcohol.

547597 2007-05-07 09:58:00 Why don't you re read or read my entire post? it pretty much answers yours. just encase ill explain it again. "punching someone would not have gained anything. Its called control." I said that people have tempers there is a level you go over until your violent depending on who you are just because you didn't get out of control in that crash then doesn't mean you don't get angry im sure your angry at me with this "argument" but not enough to rage with violence that kid who run the people over was angry enough to do what he did I bet he also thought about it before hand or premeditated with his friends just like people do when they are about to throw a tantrum. If he hadn't been angry he most likely wouldn't of done it also if he wasn't drunk which I assume he was he most likely wouldn't of done it.I'm sure everyone can control themselves and secondly being highly ****ed off describes yourself as angry there you go if your going to reply read this post properly. I do not know why this topic had to change course to this argument. Its fine by me if its answering questions but I hate to explain things twice. Chrisn (9819)

Sorry about my grammar or spelling I do use the Firefox spell checker and check the red underlined text :P.
I'm not disagreeing with the statement entirely that video games cause violence, it might teach people violence but it doesn't create violence. I wonder what sort of video games my grandfather played not to mention the numerous other ancestors- whats violent about pong which just fits in with my dad generation? im sure there was just as much violence in those days as there is now the only difrence now is the tools people have to do violence in this case the car and alcohol. :2cents:
