547579 2007-05-06 03:47:00 Im not a fan of drugs and alcohol, I don't see the point in it.theres much better things to do than go out and get pissed and stoned and having the police control you like a 5 year old at a toy store. that party was preventable in every way. i bet the majority of people there were youths that werent invited like the article said. And without a doubt the car driver was probably a 16 year old partyer who was drunk with 2 other pasengers with alcohol supplied to them by an adult. probably the same people who dye there hair black and where eyemakeup
Getting drunk with mates to a certain limit can be fun.

But some people just take it too far.

547582 2007-05-06 22:42:00 As usual the police get the blame.
What responsibilities do the teenagers themselves AND their parents carry?

547583 2007-05-06 23:38:00 Greg, the victims were just innocent kids standing around minding their own business enjoying an "awesome" party. One of them could easily have been my family member. :( I know that Foxy. The point of my seemingly insensitive comment was that if a person puts themself in harm's way, there is a certain amount of chance that they'll get harmed.

From the reports it appeared to me that the maniac who did the killing was himself or theirselves getting beaten up. A better course of action for those injured and killed could have been to leave the location at the instant that trouble started brewing.

It's evident that the party was a shambles to start with, due to the fact that the police were getting ready to raid. That's sure not the environment that I'd like any family member of mine to be involved in.

Sorry for the apparent insensitivity of my comment. That's just the way I feel about the actions of people when it comes to mass gatherings - aka mob mentality.

547585 2007-05-07 03:03:00 Some youngsters are really just idiots.....some simply cannot predict the consequences to their actions, when it should be fairly obvious.
.

Yes. Sad for the parents.
But I had a look over at Gameplanet. The comments there are about what you'd expect considering their average age.
And one of the girls had a website - theres a link.
From what she says on it she didn't care.

547586 2007-05-07 04:29:00 Still, however, you cannot judge the all teenagers as idiotic boozers.

That would be injustice for me. I'm not a heavy boozer at all. And I'm not an idiot. Or, at least I think I'm not an idiot...:D

547587 2007-05-07 05:09:00 That's right, blame video games (among other things) without any basis. Some tripe from Christchurch mayor Garry Moore:

The mayor of Christchurch says a dangerous cocktail of text culture, binge drinking and violent video games is to blame for the deaths.

Mayor Garry Moore says young people are influenced by the technology they now have access to.

Has this board gone nuts, is there something evil in the code?

For kids being drunken/drugged idiots, you prescribe death.

The same logic [sic] could just as easily apply to the "maniac" who decided to re-enter the fray after, allegedly, being in a fight, rather than remove himself from the scene.

There is nothing "apparent" about the insensitivity of your comments.
