546930 2007-05-04 10:14:00 What did that Mayor in Auckland say: "the only good Pitbull is a dead Pitbull . "

Yeah I reckon Kill all the savage breeds off .
(Whos going to Bite me now,not a Pitbull ah!!)

Problem solved then . :D
No more innocent people harmed, hurt, killed from these oh so love able dogs .

Has anyone heard a Pitbull being called Mr Cuddles . . . I think not .

Now all the doggie lovers will get angry, but hey innocent humans are more important then any dog .

Kill any dog that attacks a human what ever breed it is . :D

woof woof :D
I hope you're joking in that post . . .

Anyways, I feel it's best to keep pitbulls legal, but there must be very heavy repercussions if an owner neglects their pitbulls and/or irresponsibly own pitbulls .

Because as I see it, if one owns a pet, one must take full responsibility of it and teach it to abide to necessary rules . Dogs that attack humans are in most cases neglected and/or were in irresponsible hands . And there must be heavy repercussions for that .

546931 2007-05-04 10:15:00 What say we hang the owners then feed them to their Pitbull .
. . . and then euthanise the dog!

Make the owners reponsible for their dog's actions . If their dog kills a person, the person who is responsible for the dog is tried for manslaughter . Maximum sentence allowed ONLY . The only difficulty in this scenario is that the toe-rag owners will walk away and deny all knowledge of the animal, so proving ownership will become an issue if the consequences are more than a slap on the wrist with a wet bus ticket (which is the situation now) .

I remember when being drunk was an allowable excuse in court for crashing your car - it just needs a bit of a perspective tweak to make something unacceptable .

But while we're there - same goes for toe-rag kids . Parents are legally responsible for providing for their children until they're X years old . Make 'em responsible for their behaviour too . But allow them the tools to ensure behavioural compliance too - apologies to Ms . Bradford (not!!!) .

Hey. If you visited at my place for one reason or another and you took it into your head to pick up one of my cats there may be a chance you could get blood leaking out of a part of your body. These being domestic cats rather than felines which normally reside in the wild or a zoo.

I have never owned a Pitbull or similar but in the past I have had one Alsation, one Spaniel, one Collie, one Shetland sheep dog and only one Samoyed.

Now guess just which of these bit a child in the ear?

The dog in question was not put down.

The damage to the childs ear was about what I would expect from a person inserting earings and having earpiercing being done.

Will answer replies when I get them then I will explain the circumstances.

Just guess which one bit a child!

Well we could microchip children at birth along with Dogs, cats and also DNA sample at the same time. Bring back corporal punishment in schools too.

Right?Nah! The spaniel - they can be quite nippy sometimes! BTW Sweep - I assume you're being facetious about microchipping kids - but if it worked . . . . . . . But it hasn't worked for dogs has it!?

546937 2007-05-04 11:10:00 If a dog is roaming free and has no collar,no id chip, not registered etc how do you proof ownership .

Scenario:
Dog Control Officer:Madam/Sir where here about your dog attacking the mail person -(correct pc talk) .

Subject:What dog bay,I got me no dog man .

Dog Control Officer:A dog has been identified as belonging to this property .

Subject:Ah you talking about a dog that hangs around my place .

Subject:Cause I don't own me no dog mister .

Dog Control Officer:You have been seen feeding it and giving it water Madam/Sir,and the dog responding to your commands .

Subject:It be cruel to animals not to feed and water it,I seen that on tv man,and I say come here if you want food /water you ugly mutt and it comes . I dont know why ell it just does . I just felt sorry for it, so gave it some food and water,I bloody saved its life bro!!
Do I get a reward for saving a animals life,cause I should I reckon!!

Dog Control Officer:We are going to have to confiscate the dog sir .

Subject:Thats ok it ain't mine like I been telling you, sheese man you need to listen up bro!!

(Two weeks later subject gets another dog and it starts all over again with another dog hanging around the property and roaming free) . :2cents:

546938 2007-05-04 11:13:00 Yes, ban the breeding of pitbulls and all other breeds that have any sustained record of savagery against humans.

(Oops... some mothers won't like that comment!)

546939 2007-05-04 11:17:00 Act on your instict before your pitty mauls a child. Don't rely on the child to save itself fropm the actions of the dog.
The kid is a product of brainless parents ... I don't rely on her in any way shape or form. My action is mainly with the dog

And lets not compare Jack Russels and pitballs, Pitballs make the news because they savage people. Its not all down to how the animal is trained at all. What shall we compare pittys with then. A dog is a dog is a dog. Domesticated cats turn, so do cows, why not your trusty wee lap dog? Dogs are inherently a pack animal, whos primary instinct is survival
