548715 2007-05-09 17:17:00 The Griffith Park area is really burning . . . a true harbinger of the season that has yet to start officially!

The old famous "HOLLYWOOD' sigh is in peril! Heaven forbid it's demise!

Actually the area is very much on fire and the news coverage is astounding! If it affects a Hollywood-type actor, producer, director, then they go all out to protect and serve .

A few years ago they sent all the firefighting aircraft (the airtankers) to airports about 10 to 12 hours away from here, :illogical and now they are "re-thinking" that choice .

It takes too long to get them here . . . and they want to change that . We used to have a very large force of tankers here in Hemet/Ryan airport . . . but they are gone now .

The Mount Wilson Observatory (http://www . mtwilson . edu/) has had fires all around it . . . if you go to that link, the forest in the pix looking down into the LA Basin are all gone right now . . . up to the actual buildings so far .

The smoke is carrying here to Hemet .

There is a new fire in Corona . . about 30 miles East of here that just broke out . This is a very populated area like the Griffith Park area, although not as rich or famous . No Hollywood producers or actor-types live there to the best of my knowledge either .

This bodes badly for the rest of the summer . . . . we have not really had fires of this intensity so early in the season .

The area is a vast tinderbox and ripe for fires and death .

At 9AM, Wednesday, now here, it is 37 . 7C and 13% humidity, barometer rising promising winds from the East (Santannas) called "The Devil Winds" that will really bring the temps up and the humidity 'way down!
