743729 2009-01-31 20:39:00 After recently putting a new system together, when I power the machine on, it does not boot. Power goes to all parts, I can hear the PSU power up, the fans start up and the HDD sound like it's active as well.

I believe it may be is low power mode or power suspend mode and may having something to do with ACPI settings in BIOS?

I have played with the settings to see if I could get the machine to boot straight away when power is turned on. But it starts into the low power mode and I have to push the reset button to get the pc to boot.

I have a 485w Enermax PSU, so I don't think that the system getting enough power is an issue as once it's booted there is no problems.

The mobo is an Asus M2N68... Does anyone have any ideas why this could be happening or know if it is caused by a setting in Bios? Or have any solutions?

Thanks. M.

743730 2009-01-31 20:43:00 Did you plug the ATX 12v adapter in ? Speedy Gonzales (78)
743731 2009-01-31 20:51:00 Hi Speedy. Thanks for the quick response.

I have plugged in a 12V power connector into the mobo. On the PSU there are 2 x 12v power connectors that have "For CPU' written on them.

I think I have it plugged in / powered correctly? Looking at the mobo I don't really see another way to have the power connectors attached to the mobo....

Cheers.

743732 2009-01-31 20:56:00 The 4 pin connection from the PSU plugs into the ATX 12v connection.

The CPU fan has its own 4 pin plug, this plugs into the CPU fan adapter on the mobo

743733 2009-01-31 21:04:00 That motherboard only has a 4 pin connector for the PSU - As circled here (www.imagef1.net.nz) the PSU may have an addition 4 pins, as some mother boards these day require a 8 pin connector. They are either square or rounded corners, so can only fit one way.

Try reseting the BIOS back to default settings.

Thanks guys.

I have a 4 pin connector connected to the above circled plug. The heatsink power plug fan has a different plug and that is also connected and working. I'll reset bios and see if that helps.

Thanks again guys.

743735 2009-01-31 21:27:00 According to your motherboards manual there is only one 4pin (in a square plug shape) 12v CPU power socket on your board (marked ATX12V) situated at the top left of the board by the keyboard/mouse sockets; the required plug may be attached to the main 20 pin power plug (making it look like a 24 pin plug (like mine was :))).
You may be having a problem with your ASUS Expressgate system (lets you surf without booting into windows), perhaps corrupted or not set up correctly?

743736 2009-01-31 21:40:00 The mobo has a 24 pin EATXPWR slot which I have connected and a 4 pin ATX 12v which I have connected also.

I've reset the bios settings to default and just changed the boot order only. So far so good. I'll try a few more power downs and ups to test it further.

Thanks again for all the help everyone!

743737 2009-02-01 02:01:00 OK so after initially booting fine after reset to default settings in BIOS I am again getting the same problem.

All components seem to power on, all except any video. There are no beeps from the motherboard like a normal boot up.

the board powers up, I can hear the hdd power on, the fans all go and I can even push open on the dvd drive to open the drive door. The green light on the mobo is on but nothing else happens. There is no video, no beeps and no audio warnings.

I have spent the last while googling but not finding any solutions...

Anyone else have any ideas?

743738 2009-02-01 02:15:00 Does the mobo support the CPU thats on it?

What CPU is on it?

Thats another reason why it wont boot

Did you plug the power and data cable in if its a sata hdd
