743573 2009-01-31 04:28:00 Got an old P4 PC running XP Pro, had a second HDD and accidentally I clicked on the "Mark Partition As Active" option under disk management. Now I cant see the second HDD in the My computer window and under Diskpart > list disk in command mode. I can still see it under the BIOS settings. A little :help:please...

Thanks

743574 2009-01-31 06:14:00 Did it have anything on it? Cause you could just redo it. pctek (84)
743575 2009-01-31 08:58:00 Just tried installing windows on it and it said that there was no HDD available for installed. The HDD is still spinning but for some reason its not accessible anymore. Its a 7 year old Maxtor HDD. Maybe it decided it didn't want to live anymore :( Had some pictures on it that I wanted to save though. :annoyed: ronyville (10611)

Done that a few times and still no joy. The HDD was playing up a little a few days ago. I could see it under 'my computer' but couldnt access it.

743580 2009-02-01 00:24:00 Suggest you use Linux G-parted and de-active the partition. Usually primary active partitions are hidden other than the one booted from.
G-parted is available as a free ISO file.
I use Dingo Linux 4 cd which contains G-parted.

Could give that a try, but m begining to think that the HDD is starting to fail. Like I said, a few days ago, I couldnt even access it. I could see it under "my computer" as a second drive but when I clicked on it my computer would just freeze.
