| 743392 | 2009-01-30 09:39:00 | Hi, I got a new PC and a new 24" Dell LCD . When it is via DVI - the monitor disconnects and reconnects instantly giving a split second black screen . This happens every so minute or a few times a minute . If the computer is via VGA - DVI/VGA port converter - it is fine . When it is in bios this does not happen . I have XP Pro 32bit . When this is plugged to a old laptop via VGA (win2k) it does not happen . I have updated the video card drivers, there does not appear to be a bios available . The monitor does not appear to have downloadable drivers . Basically what can I do other than ring Dell support? Might it be a windows isssue since it does not happen in bios? Thanks . |

| 743396 | 2009-01-30 10:14:00 | There is a input button and that is selected to DVI 1 or 2 as required. Also when it is connected to the sky machine via video in. It has that port too. It never connects / reconnects. |

| 743398 | 2009-01-30 10:23:00 | Perhaps, but how I test that. I rather not go to store and buy and return. Maybe I could call Dell and see what they do .. It was with the monitor. | Nomad (952) | ||
| 743399 | 2009-02-04 20:47:00 | Alright . Dell sent me a new one without new new cables, just the LCD . Issue still happens . Might it be a software issue? I did try to install win2k on a spare HDD, couldn't install the motherboard and video drivers cos the mobo is not supported in win2k - CD won't install . But anyway, when it was in win2k and with the SP, it never disconnected/reconnected . Your suggestions now? If it works in win2k like that, is it still the cable issue? Might it be a bad card or just a software issue / setting that makes the monitor disconnect / reconnect? Might it be a XP issue - ie . . . install XP on that 3rd HDD and see if it happens without any video drivers installed? This help? To isolate so it is not O . S related issue . Cheers |
