549613 2007-05-14 00:34:00 There was a telecom ad on TV a couple of years ago now - there was a chick in a room where it was raining outside, and she gets an email from some relation that has an attachment, part of a picture where they are holidaying. she prints it out, and puts all the photos together to make a big picture... anyone know the ad im talking about? If so, do you remember the music that went with it? I've heard it on the radio a couple of times, but have never caught the name of the artist or song...

cheers...

549616 2007-05-14 05:07:00 Excellent song and great ad, pity about the ad coming from Telecom though.
The chic was in a dingy London flat receiving an email from her mum of a large photo of a Pohutukawa tree in flower which reminded her of growing up in Auckland as a little girl running on the beach. The computer in the ad was a G3 iMac. The chic prints out the photo piece by piece and sticks it up on the wall of her hovel (flat) while talking to her mum on the phone.

I actually thought it was a great ad for a number of reasons aside from the iMac being used. I tend to be a bit of a computer spotter during ads or general TV programs. Macs are often used by companies for specific product placement although it was more the memories of my own flatting experiences in London that I remembered the ad. I do like the song itself as well. The other reason for remembering the ad is for the size of the photo that the girl prints out which is effectively a collage on the wall, which if anyone has ever tried to do it, you come up with the "image is bigger than the printable surface" therefore will not print error which would mean that she wouldn't have been able to do that from an email - as far as I know. :p

I've used The Rasterbator (homokaasu.org) a few times to print out similar posters. It's really good but there's no desktop app for Mac/Linux users unfortunately.
