| 744145 | 2009-02-02 04:26:00 | Just referring to Post #4 - Bad Blocks are NOT good, in simple English they are dead spots on your Hard drive, this also can cause a PC to be slow to load, think of a jigsaw puzzle with a few bits missing, your Operating system will be missing sections. ( HDD is starting to fail) NOTE: the following will take a bit of time to complete: When the PC has started, go into My Computer , right click the Drive, properties/tools/ Check Now - Make sure you put ticks in both boxes, click Start - you will get a messages saying it cant run and do you want to run on next reboot - select YES - reboot the PC, on next start up it will check your drive, Files and try to recover any data/failed sectors. (dont try to stop it) Now assuming it starts Ok after that - click start/run type in sfc /scannow <Press Enter> have your XP CD handy as it will ask for it to replace any damaged/missing files it finds. Note the gap between the c /s |

| 744148 | 2009-02-02 07:31:00 | BitDefender isn't worth the hassle, totally buggy. Avast! + Comodo Firewall is a perfect combination. | Netsukeninja (13296) | ||

| 744152 | 2009-02-03 02:14:00 | So, did you uninstall those firewalls as well?? Having too many firewalls, they were probably playing ping pong with each other and conflicting. And slowing the system down | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
| 744153 | 2009-02-03 02:17:00 | New HDD time. Plus a good opportunity to do a fresh install, its probably full of WIndows bloat as well. |
