743519 2009-02-02 06:42:00 is there a good freeware website blocking program. must user friendly

The latest versions of Opera and Firefox browsers allow you to block sites.

Just right click on a page and choose Block content in the menu that is presented and just follow your nose. Very simple.

You can block content and whole sites. I use it to block ads.

Actually, it blocks the IP address. And "site" and "content" are the same thing in terms the IP address.

Try adding, say, google.co.nz to the blocking list and then try to visit it.

I tried firefox and could not find any block function for websites .

So are there any programs that block out certain websites?

743523 2009-02-03 05:39:00 I told you Avast does in its options

BUT, if you've installed another AV program, you'll have to uninstall it first

Either that, or add whatever to the hosts file
