548808 2007-05-10 08:05:00 Just thought I would post this as a warning to all who enjoy reading and sending jokes from joke sites. Just got an email from a friend who got a virus of some sort after visiting a joke site. A couple of years ago I recieved a joke from a friend with the joke site address which I bookmarked. My old mate & I used to send each other jokes from time to time and I thought (wrongly as it turned out) that these sites were fairly safe (wrong again!). I also bookmarked another site that appeared to be quite safe-yep you guessed it terribly wrong.
I accessed the first site to send my mate a joke and on the menu was something I thought would appeal to his sense of humour-wrong yet again! What I found when I clicked the item that was depicted in the right hand access column was kiddie porn of the worst kind and very specific as to what you could expect to see. Needless to say that bookmark was bunged!! The second site, which again I thought was pretty safe turned out to be a Russian porn site (no you could nottell by the icon or the content). I made the mistake of clicking on what I thought was the joke page only to be told by Norton that I had been zapped by a virus even before I could backtrack to get out of it. From what I have read a good number of these joke sites have porn imbedded somewhere and usually where you least expect it to be. Just thought I would pass this on as a warning.
Regards Gordon.
