550705 2007-05-17 18:42:00 Is there anyone out there who has experience with programming these programs? I am looking for someone who has the experience and the time to give me a hand to set up my site . It's already running but I want to get it to the point where it will make money .

I currently have a guy working on it, but he doesn't understand english very well and it takes time to explain each and everything I wanna do .

If the site does what it is supposed to do, it could well make a few bucks> If it does, I am prepared to pay for the work .

Because I have very very few bucks, and the site is hosted for free, I am looking for someone who can spare the time and skills for free for the time being .

I would appreciate though, some idea of the cost so I can look at how much it will cost me once the work is done and the site is generating dollars .

I'm not into ripping a contributor off, because I believe what I have could well create some attention and I certainly don't want to launch the site owing someone .

Cheers

550706 2007-05-17 22:17:00 Good luck with your venture. I doubt you will find anyone here prepared to help you for free then have to sit back and watch while you rake in the big bucks at their expense. FoxyMX (5)

You sound like someone with an idea who is looking for some venture capital to get the idea off the ground .

If you believe your idea is going to work then my suggestion would be to find some partners with the skills your looking for and offer them a small percentage of your potential business in return for a percentage of the potential profits . That way you get your site and they get paid when it is successful .

Just an idea .

550709 2007-05-21 13:48:00 Don't quote me on anything i type here...lol.. but

If you go here www.apachefriends.org you can download a server prog that runs off your own puter.. hope you have heaps of bandwidth..
Also has some tut's on mysql and php.
Comes with mysql, php, apache, a mail thing and stuff. I have it on my puter runs great, didn't need to read up to much.

One day when i need to i'll tut myself properly but it does what i need it to do.
GOOD LUCK

550710 2007-05-21 14:40:00 Running XAMMP as a production server is not a smart idea. You're far better off with a paid host who knows how to address the security properly. Erayd (23)
550711 2007-05-21 22:12:00 I have to agree with bletch . Life is too short to learn all about server security etc . For the small cost of getting a paid host, about $100 a year let someone else carry the workload .

You don't need to be a mechanic to run your own car .

As to finding good programmers for free . The world is short of php and mysql programmers, everyone wants one . How about considering a profit sharing model instead to entice one in?

You also might not have to start from scratch, as there are many free systems out there to use as a back end and just adapt them .

pm me if you want to talk about your ideas more . I have some programming experience and might be able to point you in teh right direction .
