With the startup icon for the program you want to empower on your desktop.Right click on it and select properties. Look at the top line labelled Target and at the end, after exe leave a space then write +fullproc.

And don't forget the . at the end.

Warning. In one instance I know of this addition locks up the computer, but on several others it works. If you have a problem just delete it.

I have only used it with fsx, but the author tells me it works with others. Both duo and quad.

Microsoft actually went to great lengths to make fsx multi core in SP1 . They hired programmers from Intel for it .

And they still didn't get it right.

551109 2008-05-30 02:00:00 Why's it insane? I have my E6750 on 3.2GHz, stock cooling. Had it at 3.6GHz, but was unstable without a voltage increment and figured out I'm happy with 3.2GHz.

The 65 nm C2D Intel Stock coolers are only good up to around 3gig(depend a bit on ambient temperature 3.3 tops) and this is widely known in the overclocking forums.

As you can see under "load" @ only 2.9gig the stock cooler is hitting 56C (Tcase), with throttling occurring around 62C (which will be about 75C ish Tjunction core temp).

At 3.6gig and a stock cooler and assuming JJJJJ has left throttling enabled, I believe his processor is throttling under load and he just does not know it.

Wrong! I have throttling turned OFF. And as I said my cpu temp is in the high 40's. I have been checking very closely and I have yet to see it reach 50, except when I was running at 3.8. According to Intel my cpu has a max temp of 90, so I am well within limits. I have not touched the voltages and they are all at default.
A good case and a 20cm fan sucking cold air on to the cpu helps.
Currently air temp is about 21. I may need to do something about it next summer, but until then I am happy

There are two temps on a C2D.
Tcase max is 61.4 (mostly motherboard monitoring software)
Tjunction max is 80C (not 90C)

You need to understand what software reads which temp. Tcase “can” be thrown out by bios version, Tjunction is the better reading. Your tcase temps are way to low for 3.6gig C2D on a stock cooler.

I would nearly bet my left nut 'Intel thermal monitor' will take your processor close to 80C Tjunction or beyond, should you run the test (and I can give you the link)

In fact run this, start the test on **both cores**, leave for 10 minutes and report back. Make sure the speed is showing 3.6 gig and not throttling.

If you are anything under 75C Tjunction @3.6gig then you are using a Intel Stock cooler I have not seen before.

551112 2008-05-30 20:55:00 +fullproc .

I presume you already know about this (from SP1) . My friend is pretty sure these are just overrides as FSX auto detects the CPU cores and uses as required .

SP1: How to Prepare for it and What You Get When You Install It

fsx . cfg config file tweaks:

There is a tweak to control scheduling of threads on cores .

It is not recommended to change these settings unless you have a performance reduction and/or maxed out CPU loads in the PerfMonitor . The tweak is

[JOBSCHEDULER]
AffinityMask=n

where
n num of cores scheduled processor bit mask
1 = 1 core 0001
3 = 2 cores 0011
7 = 3 cores 0111
15 = 4 cores 1111

The processor bitmask shows you what cores will be enabled ( 1 ) and what cores will be disabled ( 0 ), primarily to allow you to see the pattern and be able to pick a bitmask for 8 and 16 cores or more when they are available .
