| 551066 | 2007-05-20 00:29:00 | I agree with all of that, why he spent $1800 on a dual core?, should of saved the money for the GTX or SLI GTS!...especially since he has just about the faster RAM on the planet!?. Still should have some silkly smooth game play!...just a shame about the money waste. Isn't the intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 a quad core processor and not a dual core. And if jjjj can afford it, its not a waste of money. Going through his preferred supplier where he gets a good service is sometimes worth the extra money when you are spending that kind of dollars. Me personally could have specced a mac pro for the same money, but whatever chews your fat |

You're talking about the QX6800. ;) JJJJJ, if I were you I'd forcefully squeeze another $200 or so to get a quad-core QX6800 from Aquilatech. It's clocked at 2.93GHz, like your X6800, but only a couple of hundred dollars more. |

Or of buying something cheaper and being miserable. I prefer to be happy. |

| 551070 | 2007-05-20 04:20:00 | If you want happy, you don't want to be stuck with a dual core X6800, when knowing that by only $300 more, you could get a quad-core QX6800. :p | qazwsxokmijn (102) | ||

I for one think theres nothing wrong with Jacks PC, granted its a little on the expensive side but you pay for quality service and reputation. Sure George and pctek could have built it cheaper but I'd trust Ascent far more any day. Jack has some very "special" hardware needs as many of us know from the hours of pointless arguments with him. But i doubt there are many on this forum who would know more about FS9 than Jack, and when a PC is going to spend 95% of its life playing a single threaded game an extra 2 cores for "only" $300 is still $300 wasted. Granted maybe the other 5% of the time Jack could get some serious email multitasking going on but Jack would need a lot of friends to get that many emails. |

Like I said, it is a beast of a computer and Jack should really enjoy it. I don't think anyone here disagrees with that. I just said what I would have done differently, he asked for comments. |

| 551075 | 2007-05-20 06:10:00 | Other than a wiseguy comment, I have been quiet about this post....and that's not like me... Whatever lights your bulb is OK with me...but MAN! What a lot of money just to play games. I have a dream of someday winning a really fully equipped Ford or Mercedes Benz...DVD players, super custom wheels, bad-butt paint and details that come out the wazoo...then when they try to present me with the vehicle, I ask (over the microphone so everyone can hear me): "Anybody know where I can trade this in on a Chevrolet?" If I got this puter delivered on MY doorstep, I'd do the same thing.... .........but > it's not MY bulb that needs to be lit....and I defer to your needs and what you buy. |
