550858 2007-05-19 04:13:00 There are some reasonably affordable ways of setting up a DIY camera using a USB web cam. It may not be ideal and it may only cover your front door area or where ever you have it set but it is still better than no camera at all.

With regards to your nearest neighbour being a 1/4 of a mile away, I would imagine that that is still a lot closer than your nearest police station. If you don't set up a neighbourhood watch then you will never know how useful they can be when you most need them. Rural neighbourhood watch groups tend to be very effective because most rural people are very observant when unusual vehicles or people pass their house or area and tend to make a note of the instance and often check up on their neighbour if they are elderly or a sole occupant which is something the police can't do.

Bloke gets a bit aggro so I tap him on the conk and drop him

So....why are you on an invalids benefit then, sounds pretty fit to me.

And you're scared of them all but bash him anyway?

My father is 74, he has one leg and is fat.
He lives in Gilray Ave, Napier. The scene of the 7yr old shot by her fathers air rifle recently.

My father had a run-in with the guy - they're Mongrel Mob.
He sure didn't get all weak-kneed and give in.

And your excuse was?

Ok pctek, you ask why I'm on invalids benefit so I will reply to that question first. I have osteo arthritis in almost every joint. Starting from the
bottom and working up-both big toes pinned and fused, right knee stuffed which frequently leaves me in a heap on the ground when it gives way (no they won't operate till you are virtually in a wheelchair-that from my own doctor and my specialist!),two discs in the lower back b******d, wrists seize up when trying to write due to OA, two broken fingers in r/hand still healing, left arm/shoulder useless due to a fall (op on June 18th), two vertebrae in my neck out and unfixable unless they are also fused. Did I forget to mention Crohns Disease-do a Google and be surprised.
I might be all of the above and can't make a proper fist but when some prat starts pushing me around when I'm trying to help I use whatever means neccessary-even with broken fingers-one more fall and I could well be stuffed permenantly!
These sort of people are only brave in numbers, get them on a one to one basis and they aint so brave. The taps he got on the hooter were from the side of my hand with the broken fingers-didn't take much as he was already pissed.
And no pctek I am not personally afraid of them or him. I was brought up in Glasgow, Scotland and learned all the dirty tricks of the trade in my plooky youth and how to handle myself. These were the days when you fought one to one with steel capped boots-and used them and nobody interferred. In these days regardless who won you normally shook hands after and had a couple of pints- after you washed the blood off- and that was the end of it! Not so today-am I being too old fashioned and chivalrous or what?
Your last question regarding excuse. I'm not quite sure what you mean by the question but be assured I give in to no b*****d regardless of size who tries to have a go at me! Normally I have found that talking is the best method to avoid confrontation- but there is only so much you can get through to some people!
Regards Gordon.
