| 551433 | 2007-05-20 18:37:00 | I can remember once having a computer that had two usb conecters. And I didn't have anything to plug into them. Useless!, was my opinion at the time. Today I have the following all plugged in. Scanner, printer, keyboard, mouse, router,Track IR,Joystick, memory stick. I even have two usb ports on my keyboard. And the serial port just sits there empty. So, never call anything useless. Wonder what I can plug in to my wi-fi and bluenose holes. Useless! |

Get 10 for a starter pack, and allow for frequent additions. Serial ports - well, 1 takes care of the weather station, 1 feeds the Palm, 1 handles the UPS, and one permits data swapping with old computers. Firewire is still absolutely useless to date. |

I have XP Pro SP2 as well, but that runs in Parallels so it basically mirrors my existing setup. I about 4 of my USB ports and my Firewire for video capture at this stage, but who knows what the future holds. My keyboard also has 2 USB 1.1 ports for mice. |

| 551437 | 2007-05-22 04:55:00 | 6 is enough - 4 on the back and 2 on the front - I have my keyboard/mouse receiver in one, another empty, a scanner in a third and a webcam in the fourth. The front two often have a wired keyboard/mouse or my flash drive. No Firewire - who needs it? No DVI either. :p |

| 551439 | 2007-05-22 05:39:00 | No Firewire - who needs it? No DVI either. :p Very handy for video capture, as are the apps on my machine. I may end up using one of my Firewire ports for an external HD when my existing 250GB gets filled as I am sure will happen at some stage. I never believed that my previous 40GB HD would get filled when I upgraded from a 4.3GB:eek: , until I started putting music files in as well as my Photoshop files. |

| 551440 | 2007-05-22 05:54:00 | My mobo has 6, 2 on the front & 4 on the back. Only two of mine get used, one on the back for transferring photos from my digital cameras & the one on the front for my flash drive. My laptop has 3, two of them on the side get use for my mouse & TV card/Box, & the front one is empty. |
