745614 2009-02-07 06:41:00 Hi,

I have a Windows XP / Service Pack 3, Aspire 5050/3050 Series Laptop that I want to connect to either of my two Televisions, (older Sony Trinitron and new Widescreen Panasonic Viera). I have recently bought a cheap VGA to RCA[female]and S-Video[female] adapter. I have read tonnes of reviews and walk-throughs that talk about how to connect the two together to screen Video / play games on my Television. I have RCA cables and S-Video cables that I have tried to plug in. Steps that I did to do this was to tune down the Resolution on my laptop to 800x600, pressed Fn+F4 but nothing worked. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for reading and your thoughts.

745615 2009-02-07 06:45:00 If your viera has VGA can you not just use the VGA cable? the quality will be better Blam (54)
745616 2009-02-08 00:36:00 hey, Thanks for your Feedback

I tried my VGA converter adapter from tv to laptop but that didn't work either. I do not have a VGA cable. Any more ideas?

745617 2009-02-08 00:38:00 I would say the videocard drivers would have to support it in its settings.

And unless the drivers support it, (or something like multi-monitor), it wont work

How would I go about this, what are the drivers that I need to install? I'm currently using ATI driver with "Force TV Recognition" on. How would I have my drivers to recognize my TV? Thanks

745619 2009-02-08 01:04:00 Right mouse on the desktop / select CCC. then go to displays manager. Does it show more than 1 monitor under attached displays currently disabled???

If it doesnt it probably wont work. The laptop would have to have 2 separate outputs for video

Or click on the main active monitor / right mouse. See what options are here

745620 2009-02-08 02:53:00 Yup, I've done what you said Speedy Gonzales, and cloned the Monitor to TV. But now it says 'Your preferred POWERPLAY(tm) setting cannot be activated in the current display configuration. Your preferred setting will take effect when a display configuration change allows for that setting.' I tried changing resolution of the Laptop Monitor to 800x600, 1024x768 but didn't work. How do I change to the desired display configuration settings? cheers

>Never mind it was my fault with the 'Your preferred POWERPLAY...' error message. I plugged in my power supply and the error message disappeared, but there are still no signs of display on TV AV1.

745621 2009-02-08 03:07:00 Go through the settings in ccc.

See which one brings up a signal on the TV

I dont use laptops, so dont know where to go

745622 2009-02-08 20:21:00 You don't need to change any of those settings. just go Fn+F5 and you should be able to display the picture on screen. It may be a different hotkey depending on your laptop Blam (54)
745623 2009-02-08 22:05:00 Tried the Fn+F5 2 screens button and CCC settings, nothing worked so far :(. Dc Nilbog (13019)
