| 552752 | 2007-05-24 12:54:00 | I noticed the homepage of the trademe website, there are currently a number of phones listed on it, and people have bid almost 100 million dollars on the phones. Anyone know what is going on or is this just kids playing around? | rogerp (6864) | ||

| 552754 | 2007-05-24 13:11:00 | And noting the amount of positive feedback that 'tmg' (the user who posted those huge bids) has, I'm guessing he/she is trying to help out the seller by making sure those auctions aren't won by anyone who will expect a phone out of it, to avoid the seller getting damaging feedback. Trademe will also notice and pull the listings. | Erayd (23) | ||

So would you understand if you PF1 account got hacked and people were posting stuff on your account? it is exactly the same thing... that is why it is best to change passwords every few months if not more regularly, all they need is your E-Mail address and password and passwords can be easy to get others not so... the best is a RANDOM string of numbers , letters(upper and lower case), and other characters | The_End_Of_Reality (334) | ||

The only other way is if they have hacked my own computer or had automatically installed spyware, and it was catching keystrokes. I just find it strange that someone would hack a trademe account, and then try to sell phones under the account. I mean is this kids that are trying to abuse trademe systems to show weaknesses in it. Personally I have had a trademe account since 2000, and never changed the password, and it has never been hacked. |

Your missing one thing, if the PF1 website did get hacked, they would not be able to get the password from the database as all the passwords are encrypted in the database ;) |

| 552759 | 2007-05-25 10:08:00 | if the seller knew their account was hacked why not withdraw the listings? oh, and TM didn't pull the listings either. the hacker you may note gave out his email address telling people to email him for the phone. it is possible tmg had a part to play in this. as for hacking it does happen, why would you you'd hack a tm account? to defraud the buyer; buyer sends money, hacker didn't even have product, abandons email address and goes on his merry way $900 richer. there's a site fighting the scams and hacks on trademe, but apparently even mentioning scams on the trademe message board gets people banned and messages removed. i reckong trademe is either in on it, or just trying to make sure no-one loses trust in the site. bad way to go about it really. |
