552567 2007-05-23 23:58:00 Interesting new for the Flight sim fans (we dont have any here do we? )

www.fudzilla.com

Might make Flight Sim X worth another look at? Or not?

Would be interesting at least. To try it without SP1, then with SP1, and see how much a difference it makes.

552568 2007-05-23 23:59:00 Plus if they do good work on the DX10 patch, it might be able to get improved FPS through that as well! mejobloggs (264)
552569 2007-05-24 00:03:00 Just been reading about SP1, it looks like its mainly aimed at increasing performance.

JJJJJ, was that your main issue with FlightSim X? Will you give it another try with SP1?

552570 2007-05-24 00:05:00 LOL....from the article

DX10 patch still in works

We had a chance to briefly talk to one of the key chaps behind Microsoft's Flight Simulator X, a Mr Phil Taylor and he confirmed that the Flight Simulator SP1 patch is going to significantly speed up the game.

A lot of users responded and said that they are getting much higher frame rates than before. The most important part is that you can utilize all four cores in your quad systems and the game runs faster on quad cores than on dual cores.

JJJJJ will be pissed at that!

552573 2007-05-24 01:20:00 I have FSX and SP1. The brief time I have flown it, it seems to run alot smoother and also have increased frame rates. BTW been flight simming since the mid 80s when I had a Commodore 64 and then on the Commodore Amiga up till 98, when I then bought a PC with FS98 on it and the rest is history.
Don't do much Flight Simming these days, most of my leasure time is spent sailing online with Virtual Skipper 5 The 32nd Americas Cup The Game by Nadeo.

Yeah I know... But all I can seem to remember was that he went back to FS9 because of performance issues? Not sure... that was more than 5 minutes ago, so i'm struggling to remember

552576 2007-05-24 04:51:00 The only real problem with fsx is performance. It requires much more than the average home pc has.

Haven't tried it yet with the patch.
