553584 2007-05-27 11:55:00 h.264 is about the best codec to use for video. winmacguy (3367)
553585 2007-05-27 11:58:00 Nope, No TV3 shows are on tvnz on demand, only TVNZ shows.

553587 2007-05-27 14:03:00 CYaBro, if you could, that'd be marvellous. Any format would do (Although winmacguy is right, h.264 is aweful nice), understand if you dont have a world of time to leave it encoding or uploading...

beeswax34 / Stu:
Ive got a server that it can be FTP'd to. Not sure if I'll need two / three recordings of it though. I want to be as little a hindrance as possible, so not sure if either of you have monthly data allowances that need taking into consideration? Really appreciate all the offers!

Im highly interested in the B.R.A.T. Squad, its an area that (until recently) was quite close to home ;)

What's the best way to encode to h.264?
I have just been using AutoGK to encode to xvid.
I don't mind uploading to FTP but I only have 128k upload here :(

553589 2007-05-27 22:32:00 I used Nero Recode (You can download the CE Edition free from the website IIRC) to convert a 45 minute video down to 54MB @ 320x340! Coulda gone even smaller Im sure, and the quality was still pretty hot!

Otherwise, Ive been encoding all the Family Videos using HandBrake. Its a linux app but Im sure they do a windows port. I use it coz its the easiest way to encode using the x264 codec :)

Nero Recode wins for ease-of-use in windows (with a gui) though! It calls it AVC though, not h.264.

I was certain AutoGK could also do h.264?

553590 2007-05-27 22:58:00 Whats so special on Campbell live tomorrow night?

Tonight 7:00pm. We’re out on the street with Hamilton’s Brat Squad, the Boy Racer Action Team. It's the country's first police unit dedicated to cracking down on dangerous and aggressive behaviour by hoons in cars. We're there as the six man team head for the city's boy racer trouble spots.

Handbrake has just been released for windows in the last couple of months. Use it on the mac, brilliant

I am on Xtra Go Large, so data allowance is no problem for me :D, It may just take a while to upload ;) (128k upload speed)
