2009-02-09 21:31:00 | Hi Folks Daughter has asked for advice about the "best" pdf reader and flashplayer. Presently she doen't have either installed - recent reformat of hdd. She is using XP Home, Firefox, Thunderbird, MS Office etc. I'm not sure what she means by the "best" but I believe her requirements are fairly basic. My guess would be free, functional, fast and not bloatware. Opinions welcomed. :D Thanks in advance :thanks Michael

2009-02-09 22:51:00 | I use foxit on my notebook. PDF opens properly, instead of wait-and-open.... | heni72847 (1166) | |
2009-02-10 04:10:00 | I STRONGLY RECOMMEND FOXIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... but I'm not sure about Flash Players. Probably Adobe has the only choice there since swf is not particularly an "open" standard. Are you sure about flash player? Because there's this only one choice, as far as I know. Talking about FLV players... you might have a few choices there......

2009-02-10 06:17:00 | Foxit. You ever compared sizes? I forget exactly - something like 7Mb versus 43Mb. And have you ever wondered why a program that displays pdf files needs to have a new version every 5 minutes?? Foxit forever.

And have you ever wondered why a program that displays pdf files needs to have a new version every 5 minutes?? Foxit forever. Make that about 80Mb for adobe. Foxit is great and free. Sumatra is free and Ok but cannot open pdf's from air New Zealand for some reason |
