746232 2009-02-09 06:51:00 I have a friend who is starting to run out of space on her eee 901 with a 12gb eee. I've disabled system restore, the paging file and ran ccleaner.

Anything else I can delete to trim it down?
I also have an eee 901, but mines running a tiny nlite version:p

Thanks
Blam

746233 2009-02-09 06:58:00 Uninstall MSN explorer, and the games in add/remove programs

Not much you can do unless you reformatted and installed an Nlite install

Disable hibernation

746234 2009-02-09 07:00:00 I've already disabled hibernate. I'll remove MSN explorer and games now.

She can't do an nlite install, as she doesn't have an XP disc, I have one, but I'm only remotely fixing her eee, I can't remote install XP!

746235 2009-02-09 07:05:00 I suggest if she has loads of music on her eee pc than she might have to get rid of some and also women turn to have a load of pictures as well on their pcs. She might need to get an external drive as well. ronyville (10611)
746236 2009-02-09 07:07:00 She has almost nothing except documents on her netbook. She is a principal.
And she may get an external soon. But she doesn't like carrying too much around.

thanks anyway,
Blam

An 8GB flash drive ain't that big or heavy to carry around :p provided she doesn't end up losing it with sensitive documents on it. Maybe she can make a backup of some of her stuff that she doesnt need and remove it from my documents, that should free up some space for her.

746238 2009-02-09 07:39:00 She might do that...I suggested it but she was....less enthusiastic Blam (54)

I presume there are no applications under the O/S to create useful documents. That may make it more heavy.

746240 2009-02-09 09:40:00 There's a whole section on the EeeUser.com Wiki:
wiki.eeeuser.com

I would also recommend here:
wiki.eeeuser.com

Also, IIRC there's this one thread on the forums somewhere and its got a list of around 50 things that you can do to clean stuff up :)

Why not get an 8GB SDHC card, the one I got almost a year ago now was only $55 at the time, and it was brilliant! :)

746241 2009-02-09 19:28:00 Clean out the C:\Windows\Web folder (wallpapers), \Windows\SoftwareDistribution (don't delete the folder, but delete what you can in it - this is where updates are downloaded to) and \Windows\$hf_mig$. I've done this on my Eee. Also, disable the Recycle Bin. :) pcuser42 (130)
