746017 2009-02-08 06:08:00 Well I have an imedia...rather old...say at least 4 years old...

recently reinstalled windows xp professional on it and now it says I have no soundcard.

i know there is one in there because it's one of those on board ones...you know the pink, blue and green plugs at the back....

anyway..

any Ideas as to where it's gone?

even trying to install new hardware and looking through the device manager shows nothing new there/

any help would be appreciated... I'm at my wits end with this

746018 2009-02-08 06:11:00 You have to install the audio/soundcard drivers for the mobo.

If you know what the model of the mobo / system is, you have to go to the mobo maker's site then download the drivers

XP doesnt install soundcard, lan, or the chipset drivers

ok so how do I find out what the motherboard is?

746020 2009-02-08 06:21:00 Well you can either go to start /all programs / accessories / system tool / system information. Look to the right for system model. It may show the model here

Or get this and install it (www.cpuid.com)

Then run it. Or open the case, and look between the PCI slots for a model etched on the mobo
