554041 2007-05-29 01:57:00 I would say one person out of 700,000 subscribers might get a good run with a tech, but everytime they come here they manage to stuff it up and create a problem that never existed in the first place. Hitech (9024)
554042 2007-05-29 03:18:00 Just got home to find the following email from Sky...

Thank you for your email,

Please try the following to fix your service:

Double check for any loose cables then

Unplug the decoder (SKY box) from the power point. When you do this the light on the front of the decoder should go out

Wait 1 minute or more

Plug the decoder back into the power point. Check that all of the leads plugged into the back of the decoder are in firmly

Wait for the decoder to reset

If the above has not helped to fix your service, please contact me so we can book a technician. If the SKY equipment has caused the problem, the callout will be free of charge. If it is not the fault of our equipment the callout charge is $39.90 for work completed internally or $79.90 for work completed externally. The technician on site will determine the final charge.

So I'll try that tomorrow morning and call Sky if still a problem. The fact that it only happens in the morning on two channels seems lost on them.

Thanks for your comments thus far.

554043 2007-05-29 05:43:00 That tactic never works resetting the decoder, thats just a lame system they use for the sky reps who no nothing about getting the problem solved.

Its quicker to get a tech out to fix it.

554044 2007-05-29 05:49:00 resetting the decoder by unplugging the poweronly fixes a few glitches .....usually a result of power spikes or brown outs.

a full decoder reset is a different thing afaik they don't tell customers to do that.

554046 2007-05-29 06:22:00 Unplugging the decoder DOES work. I have done this everal times over the years to reset the decoder.

Some cordless phones Do cause interference in the 2.8GHz band.

If these solutions don't work, have Sky change the decoder.

By the way, MySky is brilliant and so easy to use.

Cheers

554048 2007-05-29 09:49:00 its a rip off and at the end of the day you still don't get to own it $600 is a waste of money for something that does the same job as a dvd recorder apart from record two channels at once. Hitech (9024)
