554524 2007-05-31 12:22:00 I think it is only EMI initially although Steve Jobs was saying that there is a lot of music coming to the iTunes store that will be DRM free. His interview with Walt Mossberg and Bill Gates is very interesting, well worth watching. winmacguy (3367)
554525 2007-05-31 12:54:00 Apple has also singed a deal with YouTube(Google) to carry content on it's Apple TVs which also got a 160GB HD upgrade. winmacguy (3367)
554526 2007-06-01 08:33:00 Bottom line: DRM-free doesn't mean that Apple suddenly supports piracy

Indeed they don't and they never did. The DRM free songs are all tagged so that they will carry your "name and address" to dissuade you from putting them on file sharing sites.

554528 2007-06-01 12:55:00 **** that's pretty clever.

the reason piracy is so rampant is the fact it's generally easier and cheaper than legal means, and has such (perceived) anonymity

god knows how MS and Sony can think otherwise

554529 2007-06-01 19:41:00 The arrival of iTunes Plus - DRM-free content from Apple's iTunes Store - has triggered hysteria in some quarters.
Certain commentators are getting over-excited about the way such tracks contain the purchaser's name and iTunes Store account name. Do your homework, guys - that's the case with 'regular' tracks as well.

Me too, must be old school although I don't think that music CDs will be on shop shelves for too many more years, especially as each successive digital music purchasing generation x'r matures.

Most of todays music is crap anyway. I wouldnt get it, if it was the last thing on earth.

I'll rather listen to 70's/80's/90's music. And listen to people / groups, who can actually SING.
