2007-06-01 07:36:00 | For those that are interested, the Fedora Project (http://fedoraproject.org/) has now released Fedora 7. The sharp eyed will notice the "Core" has been dropped from the name of Fedora 7 (Moonshine) as from this release onwards. Fedora 7 Release Summary (fedoraproject.org) - some key points: In this release, the performance of yum, Pirut, and Pup has been significantly improved. (That was waaay over due ) In this release, all hard disk partitions follow a /dev/sd* naming convention due to a new libata driver interface in the kernel. The Anaconda installer eases the transition for release upgrades. (Something to keep in mind when helping Fedora 7+ users, hdx now becomes sdx) This release provides a number of firmware packages for enhanced wireless networking. NetworkManager presents a graphical interface that allows users to quickly switch between wireless and wired networks for increased mobility. NetworkManager is installed by default in both GNOME and KDE Live CDs. Plus lots of geeky stuff for the more "I'm pass the basics" folks. Many people are probably unaware that Fedora offers installable LiveCDs in both Gnome and KDE flavours now. Great for the look before trying people. :) Download details: Torrent (preferred method) - http://torrent.fedoraproject.org/ HTTP and FTP mirrors - mirrors.fedoraproject.org i386/i686 (32-bit systems) F-7-i386-DVD.iso x86_64 (64-bit systems) F-7-x86_64-DVD.iso ppc (Macs) F-7-ppc-DVD.iso LiveCDs Fedora-7-KDE-Live-i686.iso - 687M (KDE desktop) Fedora-7-Live-i686.iso - 699M (Gnome desktop) For 64-bit systems - note the ISO will only fit on a DVD Fedora-7-KDE-Live-x86_64.iso - 831M Fedora-7-Live-x86_64.iso - 779M Rescue CDs: F-7-i386-rescuecd.iso F-7-x86_64-rescuecd.iso F-7-ppc-rescuecd.iso Have fun! :)

2007-06-01 07:40:00 | You will need to be more specific with your problem. What hardware part of your Compaq computer is not currently supported under Fedora? | Jen (38) | |
2007-06-01 07:58:00 | He He, No Drivers.. Only support Vista and XP both x64 bit and 32bit. So because of this, I would not be able to us Fedora or anyother OS is that right?

2007-06-01 10:58:00 | On my system when I upgraded from FC5 to 6, it broke just about everything that worked. Hopefully 7 will not | Phil B (648) | |

Everything fedora needs to run comes on it's install CD. Just like your computer had no drivers for XP or Vista until you installed them. You just need to install Fedora on a seperate HDD or partition to any of your other programmes or they will be over written. |
