554623 2007-05-31 02:28:00 Hi, I got an old friend. He is quite old and needed a mobile phone for emergency use. Does anyone know if there is a mobile phone with big button and big display, especially for elderly people. Thanks in advance. ahd8888 (184)

554627 2007-05-31 04:52:00 You young people seem to miss the point of the question. You have young fingers and eyes, and even if those phones look "old fashioned" to you, they are too small, and the buttons are far too small.

Many older people (and some young ones, too) have poor eyesight. many have arthritic fingers. " Cute" phones aren't practical. The need is for buttons which can be pressed one at a time, with clear markings which can be seen, and a screen which can be read. Games, PXT, email, G3,downloadable movies, etc, are not wanted or needed. JUST A PHONE WHICH CAN BE USED. As a "phone".:(

554628 2007-05-31 05:35:00 Yes there are specific phones designed for the elderly. My mum bought one. It had a normal size screen but really big font, big letters on the keys, big keys, really easy to find tools etc. I can't remember the brand but can ask. She ended up trading it in for an ordinairy phone because in their attempt to keep it really simple it had was very limited in options - but sounds like this would be perfect for what you are looking for. 554629 2007-05-31 05:37:00 What about that phone that was marketed as being "so simple it's genius"? can't remember what brand it was or anything, could have been alcatel. It was specifically designed for ease of use with big spaced buttons and a big screen. I tried to find it, but didn't have much sucess. I know my grandparnts have one (they're on vodafone) and like it. wratterus (105)

554631 2007-05-31 05:44:00 A Palm Treo (600/650/680/750 - alas no 700P in NZ :( ) is a good option for a phone with big numbers - the whole screen has large numbers that are easy to press.

But it's relatively expensive and much more complicated than "just a phone"...

U are correct. The phone that I am looking for must have a big display, big button and loud and clear speaker. Thanks
