Experts reveal Kiwibank phishing campain directs to spoofed website in the US.

An email purporting to be from New Zealand’s Kiwibank - urging customers to update their personal information - is a malicious phishing campaign, warns security vendor Sophos.

Using the Kiwibank logo, the email tricks customers into clicking on the provided link in order to update their personal information and ensure their eligibility for the bank’s policy if guaranteeing their money.

The email said: “…We are so confident with our online banking security system that we guarantee your money…Please proceed to your Kiwibank online banking personal internet banking now for more update on your account maintenance.”

554086 2007-05-29 06:36:00 Crikey,will keep eye on that!.
Also Kiwi alerted.

Some of our customers have been targeted by a "Customers Reminder" Phishing email claiming to be coming from Kiwibank. In the email the customer is prompted to click on a link that supposedly takes the customer to a Kiwibank site. This is not the case - the email has not been sent by Kiwibank and the link leads to a replica fraudulent site.

If you have clicked on the email link, you must change your password immediately and call us on:

554088 2007-05-29 07:40:00 I don't use it either but I figured since it was an article regarding a serious phishing scam that I should post it here to let people know about it. winmacguy (3367)
554089 2007-05-29 07:41:00 So you're all right, Sweep. Graham L (2)
554090 2007-05-29 07:48:00 Well so what? Its nothing new. Scammers do this all the time with all osrts of banks and other sites.

ASB has a note on their site when I log in warning about this sort of thing.
You'd have to be pretty thick to click a link on one of those.

Fair enough.

I am more worried about the Goverment who is now pushing KiwiBank and making employers pay as well. As I will be 65 years old this year should I join?

Listening to NewsTalk ZB questions were asked today. The person whom was asked did not know the answers. This was a person whom should know.

Go get your $1020. For the first year and etc.

I think so but I can ( and have ) been wrong.

Thanks for your comment. I take it that you are OK as well. I hope.

As I will be 65 years old this year should I join?Think you are confused Sweep. Kiwisaver is a planned retirement saving scheme, Kiwibank is a bank. This thread topic is about Kiwibank. :) Jen (38)
554094 2007-05-29 10:58:00 I'm with kiwibank, however I have yet to receive a legit e-mail from ANY bank requesting account updates, statements yes.
They just dont do account maintenance like that, how many times do people have to be told!
