| 554021 | 2007-05-28 20:43:00 | Morning all. I'm new to Sky thru a dish, and had it installed a few weeks ago and am keen for any thoughts here before I talk to Sky. Upshot is, Ch. 1 & 2 are virutally unwatchable in the mornings. As I type this, the tv is snap, crackling and popping, and the picture "stalls" as if it's been put on pause. This sometimes, but not often, affects Prime as well. Oddly enough, it seems no other channels are affected. I watched Nat Geo for 30mins this morning...not a problem...flicked to 1 and all gone downhill from there. The problem is non-existent later in the day....1 & 2 are fine in the afternoons and evenings. I've recorded an example to my DVD HDD to show them if they need to turn up to fix, but does anyone here have any thoughts? Cheers AB |

| 554022 | 2007-05-28 21:09:00 | I suspect the decoder. Last year Sky changed my decoder for some reason and afterwoods I had the same problem on certain channels. Good luck trying to convince the Sky Cust service bunny that it's not your TV. They came back about 5 days later and put in a new decoder and I never had a problem again.. | paulw (1826) | ||

I had sky installed about 2 months ago and had the same problem on a few channels while others were perfect. Sky came and swapped the decoder. |

| 554025 | 2007-05-28 21:59:00 | Have you tried looking at your signal level, click the middle button on the remote scroll up until you see signal check and then press the middle button. You should get signal bars right up to the top on both sides depending on what type of decoder you have, My pace decoder shows the bars right up to the top all the time and the numbers below never move, on the other hand the motorola decoder shows the bars to be half way up and the numbers move all the time. i also suggest you try and check the sky cable is screwed in tightly at the back of your decoder this two can have an effect on your picture i had this problem once before cause the lazy tech didn't screw the cable in properly. |

| 554026 | 2007-05-28 22:05:00 | You try and convince the sky tech of that problem. I had a sky tech round last year and he was very reluctant to install a new decoder cause i had a dect 2.4ghz phone in the house and he looked in his manual to see if this phone affected the decoder and it said it did.So i told him i would get rid of the phone and he put a new decoder in for me so after he left i put the phone back in and the decoder was fine he was bull****ting me the whole time. Some of these sky techs think they know it all and most of the time they know jack **** and waste a lot of your time its better off diagnosing the problem yourself. |

I'm not sure though how that fits in with the fact that it's only a morning thing....? |

But I deliberatley bought a 5.8 GHz one to get around those issues... |
